In recent years there has been increased scientific concern with water analysis, and growing pressure for more effective conservation of the environment. This has prompted tremendous interest both in the methods of analysis for organic substances in water and in the information such analyses can provide. The aim of this two-volume work is to discuss in a systematic manner, the occurrence of pollutants in water, the methods of analysis used to trace these and the value of the resulting information. Each chapter deals comprehensively with a particular type of organic substance occurring in water. Wherever possible sufficient information is provided to enable the reader to analyse the most important substances without reference to any other work. At the same time, the two volumes contain over 2500 key references to the international literature. The volumes are in a format specifically designed to enable the reader to gain rapid access to the information required.
