"Levitation" details the fiftieth year in the life of a man named Jonas. At this mid-point in life Jonas discovers he has the ability to levitate. Because of this, he and his wife Cindy are thrust into the media spotlight. Many people question the validity and source of Jonas' gift. He becomes a figure of increasing controversy with the government, scientific and religious leaders of the world. A self proclaimed prophet of the people, Bubba Johnson, labels him a demon and chastises him on national television. As word of Jonas' fame spreads so does peoples fear of him. After all he contradicts everything they have been taught. Jonas begins to feel detatched from the world around him. He is increasingly drawn to a higher consciousness. Cindy and a close circle of freinds try to protect him from those who do not understand. But their best efforts are to no avail as the masses converge to condemn him.
