This book is about the history of the Kansas City Chiefs, from their inception (as the Dallas Texans) in 1960, when owner Lamar Hunt started the American Football League. I trace the development of the franchise, which moved to Kansas City after three seasons. All the key figures in Chiefs history--Hunt, Hank Stram, Len Dawson, Abner Haynes, Tony Gonzalez, Derrick Thomas, Marty Schottenheimer and many others -- are included. The book is written in Q&A format, with six chapter intros. Their titles are Planting Seeds in Dallas' Rocky Soil, The Team to See in '63, Super Bowl Champs, Remembering Joe Delaney, Montana, Allen and the '93 Season, and Chiefs at the Bottom of the Barrel: 2-14 in 2008. I am respectful of all but beholden to none, so you can read the bad as well as the good in this book. It's no rah-rah puff piece, that's for sure.
