A Summer to Remember is a fake relationship turned real and I absolutely adored it! I was a bit nervous at the beginning, because Kit's friends bet him that he won't be able to get Lauren to marry him by the end of the month. Bet plots normally don't work out too well for me, but this wasn't a bet plot. Kit caves and tells Lauren the truth right off the bat, which prompts her to come up with her own plan. She'll pose as his fiance to help him with his family, if he'll help her have some fun before she goes off to live her quiet life of solitude. Obviously, he agrees and he certainly gives the prim and proper lady a summer full of adventure!
I loved seeing Kit and Lauren together! In the first book, she was very stiff and you could tell that being left at the alter hurt her more than she let on. She tells Kit things she's never said out loud before and it really let us get to know her and why she is the way she is. And he pushes her to do things outside of her comfort zone, but nothing too outrageous. She is a lady after all! Kit also shares very personal bits with her, so it's easy to see how they fell for each for real. I especially liked the glimpses into his relationship with his brother. I really wish Syd had gotten his own book.
I just really enjoyed A Summer to Remember. Kit and Lauren were wonderful for each other! Their summer was filled with fun and passion and emotion! This was also a great introduction to the Bedwyn siblings who will be the focus of the main series. I'm particularly interested in getting more of Frejay. She's pretty awful, and I'm curious about the man who can match her!
