Pele is considered as one of the greatest football players of all time. The IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) named him Football Player of the Century, after a vote in 1999. Also in 1999 Pele was named the "Athlete of the Century" by the International Olympic Committee. His career statics are 760 official goals, 541 in league championships; in total he scored 1281 goals in 1363 games. In his native home of Brazil he is considered a national hero, he is well-known for his accomplishments and contributions to the game of football. In addition he is a vocal supporter of policies to improve the social conditions of the poor. In 1966 he married Rosemeri dos Reis Cholby the couple divorced in 1978, they have two daughters and one son. He is currently separated from his second wife psychologist and gospel singer Assiria Lemos Seixas, they have one set of twins, one boy and one girl.
