Valentine just turned 16. She was always "that clumsy, ugly, tall girl" but now she's "that magic gender-bending freak." It's because 16 isn't sweet for her, as she changes into a he. It turns out her parents had not just hidden her true identity for her, but also that she's a Mystic Healing Artist. With social gender roles against him and his father despising him, Valentine's abandoned, thrown into a world alone where he has to fight against stereotype and prejudice in society.
