The story of the adventures of a little polystyrene boat, which was shortlisted for the 1995 Smarties Book Prize. Down on the shore, by the edge of the sea, a little boy makes himself a little boat from an old piece of polystyrene, with a stick for a mast and a string tail sail. He plays with it all day long, singing, "We are unsinkable, my boat and me!" But when he turns his back, a gust of wind catches the little boat and takes it out to sea. This is the story of the little boat's voyage across the ocean - its many adventures and encounters, above and below the water - until it comes to land once more and into the hands of another child. Kathy Henderson has also written "15 Ways To Go To Bed" (shortlisted for the Smarties Book Prize), "In the Middle of the Night", "Bounce Bounce Bounce", "Bumpety Bump", "Second Time Charley", "Jim's Winter" and "Pappy Mashy". Patrick Benson won the 1984 Mother Goose Prize for his illustration of William Mayne's "Hob Stories". He has also illustrated "The Willows in Winter", Roald Dahl's "The Minpins", "The Tough Princess", "Owl Babies" and his own story "Little Penguin".
