Architects and urbanists have been invited to submit ideas for the redevelopment of the South Bank Centre. This book discusses these ideas. The ten pre-finalist's projects include: Michael Hopkins and Partners; Jeremy Dixon and Edward Jones; Richard Rogers Partnership; and Sir Norman Foster and Partners. The final chapter focuses on the three short-listed projects. The text includes a statement from each of the ten architects about cultural centres. The book also includes the edited transcript from a symposium held at the Centre, where a broad spectrum of participants voiced their views on "The Future of the South Bank". There is a short historical overview to introduce the volume, with contributions from Robert Maxwell and Andrew Saint.
