This was a okay read. Jean just got back from the dead and I do believe that she would continue to fight for mutants rights, but I hate that the villain is Cassandra Nova. I never liked Cassandra and every time I think she's dead, they bring her back to life.
I don't mind the story of her fighting for mutant rights because that issue is still going on, I just hate that they recycle the story by not doing anything new with it. All I felt while reading this volume is that I've read this same story many times before even though it's with some new characters.
I like the team and I like that Jean is continuing to fight for mutants, but it needs to be done in a different way.
The art was hit and miss for me, with some I did not like at all.
I didn't expect this series to be great, but it could have been good if they made different choices then just the standard and typical cliche stories that are being given to X-men stories.
If your a fan of Jean Grey and are excited she is back, this might be the book for you. But as a fan of the X-men since the early 90's, this just seems like a recycled story to me and it wasn't done good.
The best part of the series is Gabby and X-23, especially Gabby who brings some funny lines.
I'll probably read volume 2 to get a conclusion of the story, but I hope they figure out what to do with Jean instead of the same old story. She needs growth.
