Volume 2 completes the author's goal of bringing together, in one source, a unified interpretation of the ten major sources of existential philosophy in the 20th century. Volume 1 included commentaries on the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl and the existential writings of Albert Camus, Karl Jaspers, Gabriel Marcel and Martin Heidegger. This second volume follows a similar format and includes the writings of Martin Buber, Ortega Y. Gassett, Nicholas Berdyaev, Soren Kierkegaard and Friedrick Nietzsche. These volumes reveal the continuity present in a century of existential writings and reaffirms the importance of this philosophical movement for a contemporary understanding of philosophy. In each chapter the author makes use of a primary source, gives a clear account of the philosophical meaning, focusing throughout on the way existential writers answer the questions - ""what is philosophy?"" and ""what does it mean to be a human being?"". In these two volumes the development in philosophy associated with existential thinking can really be seen.
