This book deals with the use of Inverse Gas Chromatography (IGC) and Inverse Size Exclusion Chromatography (ISEC) to determine some surface and bulk properties of fibres (cellulose, glass, carbon, Kevlar, ...), and powders (synthetic and natural polymers, as well as organic and inorganic pigments and fillers). The properties discussed will be the free energy of the surfaces under study, their acid-base character, the surface area of different solid morphologies, the transition temperatures of polymers, the fraction of a polymer crystalline phase, the interaction parameters of some polymer-solvent, polymer-polymer, polymer-filler and polymer-fibre systems, such as polymer blends, composites, and filled polymers like paints, tires, inks, etc.) and the pore-size and pore-size distribution of different solids. Aspects related to surface phenomena, adhesion, conventional chromatography versus inverse chromatography will also be included.

Before starting the main core of the book, introductory chapters will deal with the historical development of these techniques, their basic theoretical basis, their advantages and limitations, the experimental methodology they require, the instrumentation used and the calculation procedures adopted to exploit the obtained data.
