What a great start to the Hot and Hammered series.
Georgie and Travis were so much fun to read and I loved their development as characters.
Bailey did a great job of introducing characters coming in other books without taking away from Georgie and Travis. (Sometimes the world building is a scene chewer for me.)

Georgie was such a great character, I loved how she lived her life on her terms and forged her own path.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series!

This was my first Tessa Bailey book, but it certainly won't be my last! I loved the setup, I loved the execution, and I loved the ending to this fun and fabulous romance.

Who?

• Georgie Castle - A professional clown, who wanted nothing more than to be respected and regarded as an adult by her family and the rest of Port Jefferson.

• Travis Ford - Retired from professional baseball at the ripe age of 28 due to an injury, he returned to his hometown licking his wounds and feeling sorry for himself.

What?

Tired of his moping around, Georgie delivered a wake-up call to Travis via a one-sided food fight. After returning to life outside of his apartment, Travis discovered he was shortlisted for a sportscaster position, but they were not interested in his bad boy image. Seeing it as a win-win, Georgie suggested they embark on a fauxmance, which could clean up his image, while also making her look like a grown women to those inside and outside her circle. This may have simultaneously been Georgie's best and worst idea to date.

Why?

Bailey threw so many of my favorite romance things in this book, it was impossible for me to not love it.

I am always up for a good fauxmance, and this being between lifelong friends made it that much better. Georgie had been in love with Travis since she hit puberty, even if he had never noticed, because she was just his best friend's little sister. That moment, when he finally saw Georgie the grownup was a wonderful thing. I felt my mouth slowing curving up as the filter of the past cleared, and he recognized the Georgie, who was right in front of him.

And, can we talk about Georgie. I swear! I heard the dulcet tones of "Georgy Girl" every time she was on page. She was sunshine and rainbows, and I could not resist her charm. It was instant adoration, which only grew the more I got to know her. How could you not love someone, who wanted to bring joy to other people? I was very excited that Bailey allowed us to see her in action as a clown too, because it just made me love her more.

It was also fantastic seeing her and Travis form a team. I was very frustrated with the way Georgie's family treated her, therefore, when Travis stood beside her and stood up for her, I was cheering. Not only because it was nice to see someone fight for her, but because it was that little push, that led Georgie to tap into what was always inside of her. That little nudge helped her mend some relationships and start taking steps towards making her dreams a reality.

The partnership was not one-sided, though. Travis wasn't just wounded by the loss of his career, he was dealing with the baggage of his childhood, as well as the hurt of being treated as a "thing" there to amuse and entertain people. He was tired of the hurt, the hero worship, and of people not seeing him as worthy, but he was lucky, because he had Georgie by his side. She believed in him, loved him, and supported him.

I found this be a really wonderful story of two people, who were good on their own, but stupendous together. It was a great way to kick off this new series, and I am excited to return to Port Jeff for more of their stories.

This is my first Tessa Bailey novel... What have I been doing with my life? I should have read this author ages ago! I adored this novel so much!

"I've met her twice in my life. This time, I was smart enough to fall in love with her."

This novel started out strong in my eyes. We are introduced to Travis, who's completely hungover, letting his life pass away after an injury ended his professional baseball career. In storms Georgie into his place and knocks some sense into the poor guy. To him, Georgie has always been his best friend's little sister who would always follow him around and was kind of annoying. What he never knew was that Georgie had the biggest of crushes on him and still does.

When I say I had no idea what to expect from this story, I mean it. I mean, I get a clown for a main character (yes, a literal clown). I have to admit, I didn't know what to make of Georgie at the beginning, but her personality floored me in the best of ways! Such a loving human being that I just love love love! She's always so positive and ready to go forward. You wouldn't know that she's so lonely. She's the youngest of her family and they see her as a little kid. When she makes plans for all the family to be together, they bail or forget. When she calls or texts, they dismiss her so quickly. This had me feeling for her in so many ways.

I loved how Travis made Georgie feel like she was truly important and like everything that came out of her mouth was the most amazing thing in the world. Travis is a guy who doesn't want relationship, just want a fake one so he can get a job and Georgie is there to help. He says he's not a man of romantic gestures, but boy, was he killing my heart with those romantic gestures towards Georgie! There's a scene that involves a fireplace and Georgie's favorite tree as a child and my heart was melting big time! Travis is completely swoon-worthy and I just want more of this amazing man! I fell HARD for Travis! Travis is everything. I never thought I'd melt over "baby girl" but I did. And OMG his dirty mouth but also his sweet loving caring mouth!

"You bought my favorite dinner and turned my climbing tree into a fireplace." ... "You're batting a thousand in the gesture department, Ford."

Overall, Fix Her Up was another favorite of this year! It's my second favorite! I highly recommend this one if you're up for humor and swoon-worthy romance!

[Romance Schmomance]

Fix Her Up is my second read by Tessa Bailey. I didn't quite fall in love with the first book that I've read by her, but a lot of my bookish friends LURRRRVVVEEEEEE her books. And that's what lead me to give another one of her books a try. Overall, I thought it was a cute story, I can't say that I was completely behind her reasons for the changes she made about herself. But overall, a pretty solid story that so many will enjoy.

Georgie absolutely made this story for me, I loved her so damn much and it was nearly impossible not to. It peeved me so much that no one took her seriously because of what she does for a living. She made a career for herself and it's something she's proud of and absolutely adores. I was tsk-ing so much during this book when it came to her family. She tried and tried to show them that she was more than what she does, and they constantly laughed her off. I hated it. She deserved the world.
