**AN ARC WAS PROVIDED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN**
Let me start off with, how the heck have I not read any of Natasha Madison's books?! Blasphemy! April has definitely been the month of reading books from new to me authors and they have all been blowing my expectations away. As soon as I finished Something So Unscripted, I quickly bought the rest of the books in the series ... so there I go again with reading books out of order! I've completely fallen in love with Denise and Zack's story and just one that I needed to read this year.
I love a good sports romance and this one was a bit different than others that I've read. SO. MUCH. EMOTION. Even with what Zack has been through with not only his no-good ex-wife and ex-best friend but his sweet little boy who is having one of the toughest battles of his life. You can't help, but sit there and say that it's just not fair! I absolutely loved seeing Zack's vulnerable side, it was just so realistic because in these situations it's 100% OK to take a breather, to break down. There's nothing easy about seeing your child dealing with something they should never have to at such a young age or at all. Seriously #F*CKCANCER!
I have never felt so giddy during a read in such a long time and that's what I was as I was seeing Zack's and Denise's relationship evolve. It was nearly innocent and wasn't simply all attraction. It's safe to say that Denise fell in love with Jack first, they bonded so easily and quickly. He was essentially Jack's mother since his biological one is a piece of crap human being! But Zack and Denise's relationship was so natural and real. Obviously, there were quite a few lines being crossed with the doctor-patient deal among other things, but this is fiction, people. And in our little world of romance, it works and I had no problem with it. I'm not one to dissect every little thing in a book.
It's genuinely a sweet story with surprisingly low angst. I was curious to see if there would be a lot of unnecessary ex-drama, but thankfully it was at its minimum. I can't wait to dive into the rest of series and learn more about the other characters!
