This 13-chapter text offers systematic pedagogy, helping students use psychology to learn psychology while examining core concepts from perspectives of the brain, person, and world.

This fundamentals version combines consciousness with stress/health coverage and cognition with intelligence for two fewer chapters than the comprehensive Kosslyn/Rosenberg text. Fundamentals of Psychology still retains all of the pedagogy and features from the larger text, with the addition of end-of-chapter practice tests.

The authors introduce the field of psychology by 1) exploring how psychological principles can be applied to enhance learning and 2) integrating the field of psychology by viewing it from various perspectives (the brain, the person, the group). Through their own research, clinical work, and teaching experiences, Kosslyn & Rosenberg have found that by examining psychological issues and interactions via the lenses of the brain (physiological mechanisms), the person (beliefs, desires and feelings), and the group (the physical and social world), students are better able to organize and understand topics presented across chapters. Students are then able to actively apply psychology to their daily lives.
