Bert Theis regularly opens up spaces for creative interaction which can be occupied by the public, offering the possibility of transforming monotony into something much more monumental: at the 1995 Venice Biennale, Theis erected a Luxembourg pavilion where none had existed before, between the Dutch and Belgian pavilions, both neighbors having denied him a building permit.
