The Schorr Collection, built up over 35 years, is a privately held art collection and one of the largest of its kind of recent formation in the UK. Numbering over 400 works, this publication is the first time the collection has been seen in its entirety and the first time many works have been published. The collection ranges from 15th-century devotional images to 19th-century French Impressionist landscapes. Old Master artists range from Rubens, El Greco, Turner, Delacroix and Cranach to Impressionists such as Pissarro and Sisley. Unlike many public collections, a substantial number of the works from the Schorr Collection have undergone x-rays and dendrochronology testing. While individual pieces have been loaned to many public institutions in the UK and abroad, the Schorr Collection is a musee imaginaire rather than a permanent display. Vol 1: Catalogue - features a small reproduction of each work, along with comparative works, a biography of each artist and a full provenance on each work. Vol 2: Plates - includes large illustrations of 420 works, organised by schools, in colour, with a text overview of each work.
