It's been a few years since I read a Piers Anthony Xanth novel - and I now remember why. Unless you are prepared for the onslaught of puns, it can be hard to keep your focus on what is happening in the story when being assaulted by puns. Though I don't remember the last one being quite so...consistent in its pun-ditry.

In addition, this one seems to have a far greater focus on sex. Not that it's a bad thing in general, but it did feel sort of in-your-face here.

Overall, I really had to convince myself - repeatedly - that I *could* finish this book. Honestly, had this not been a Vine book, I would have just put it in the DNF category (which is quite rare for me), and called it good. So - if you're a die-hard Xanth lover, then you'll probably be fine. Otherwise - give it a few chapters and see how you feel.
