The poems include Ravenna (1878), an early work about the ancient Italian city, and The Ballad of Reading Gaol (1898), which deals with death penalty. The Canterville Ghost (1887) is a parody of both the American and English cultures and traditions. Among the plays are La Sainte Courtisane and A Florentine Tragedy.
