Computer Science is the study of data, of procedures for the manipulation of data, and of the machines that store the data and carry out the procedures. This is a very wide area, which includes the study of: numbers and words; languages and the means of communication; theory and techniques of problem solving; electrical and electronic concepts; design of machines; structure of organisations that use computers and data; and group dynamics. This wide range of topics involved in the study of computer science is matched by the wide range of applications of computers in contemporary society.
