Volume 2 in this eagerly-awaited series presents capsule histories of all US Army infantry divisions that served in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) during WWII. The author has assembled a quite outstanding amount of data. The information given for each division includes: Divisional insignia illustrated, alongside the division's motto(s); Full list of units assigned to the division; Full list of units temporarily attached to the division, e.g. tank destroyer battalions, including dates of attachment; Complete lists of staff and regimental commanders within the division, including dates served; Assignment of division to higher formations (e.g. corps); Extremely detailed combat chronology recording the division's activities, amounting to a virtual combat diary; A further section provides a record for each unit attached to an infantry division in the ETO, e.g. every tank destroyer battalion is listed, with each showing the divisions it was assigned to, and the dates of assignment. This is a superb volume to complement the author's first part in the series, which received a high degree of praise from reviewers and public alike.
