Distributed systems are systems governed by partial differential equations. Singular distributed systems are those in which the equation of state has "singularities" (instabilities, explosion phenomena, multiple solutions, and bifurcation phenomena). The subject of this book is the study of the control of these situations, a study motivated by a variety of applications, such as the control of enzymatic reactions, the control of the transmission of electrical energy, and the control of the form of plasmas.
