Georgina Weldon was born in 1837, and lived and died one of the great eccentrics of the 19th century. Although almost no-one in the 20th century has heard of her, she had a monstrous ego that led her to write a six-volume record of her life through a spiritualistic medium. This work was composed in a convent cell in Gisors where she lived with her monkey, Titileehee. In 1996, Brian Thompson came across her memoirs in a French bookseller's catalogue: this biography pieces together the facts and fiction of her extraordinary life - there was no other Victorian woman like her.
