Bill Gibson was born in 1906 in Gateshead and died in 2008 in Crowborough East Sussex after a long and clearly happy life. Years ago his daughter and son-in-law handed over an old pc and he set to work letting his memory talk. When his fingers became too stiff to double-click his words were taken verbatim to form the basis of this book. When his wife Edith died in 1987 he turned to keeping, intermittently, a diary and this has been dipped into in order to bring his story up to date. These are his simple memories in his very own words set out as they came to him and with little regard for chronology. His tales of his childhood and youth on Tyneside a century ago are especially rich.
