This work provides a survey of a range of distinct landscape architecture and design schemes from the 1990s. Spanning a variety of approaches and themes, over 50 projects from around the world are featured, including parks and plazas, children's playgrounds, tourist and housing developments, landfill sites, gardens and recreational areas, and landscaping schemes on former industrial land. The projects range from strong individual designs which make patterns in the land and use geometry as a key element, to designs that require a collaborative approach. Some of the designs featured, such as those of Shunmyo Masuno in Japan, show landscape architects working in a poetic and allegorical way.
