A series of strategies with photocopiable sheets to help teach Key Stage 3 science in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is presented in this text, and S1 and S2 environmental studies in Scotland, to students with special needs. The book offers strategies across the curriculum. These include games, puzzles, sorting, observing, selecting and deciding, matching and model making. The strategies can be adapted to meet the needs of individual students or groups, and can help those with low self-esteem or short concentration spans to experience success. The strategies are outlined in the teacher's notes, which start each section, and photocopiable sheets show how the approach can be applied to specific part of the Kew Stage 3 programme of study for science. The examples given cover life and living processes, materials and their properties, and physical processes. There are also black templates so that strategies can be applied to other topics.
