The world trade war has resulted in victory for the East. The countries of the West are in decline, their economies ravaged and poverty and anarchy are rife, with the pandemic of A2 disposing of the weak and the unlucky. An economic apartheid separates the underclass from the few professionals who serve the globals, living a hot-house existence of relentless pressure, enforced productivity implants and continual monitoring. In a distant outpost of one of the globals, an ageing car factory located in the UK, a serious crime triggers the arrival of the corporate investigations team. The deadline for solving the case is tight, yet the team is soon caught in a web of corporate politics, murder and something far more sinister. All too quickly the lives of the investigators and perhaps the very existence of the company itself is under threat.
