A follow-up to ZOMBIES: Same specs, similar 'found journal' concept, this is an illustrated journal from a girl living in contemporary rural Ohio who (along with her brother) is bitten by and transformed into a werewolf. Werewolf adventures ensue. The journal follows her attempts to understand her new nature and her indoctrination into the local 'pack,' who as wolves bit her and her brother in order to bolster their numbers---kind of like getting jumped into a gang. She becomes familiar with physical and social changes that happen as a werewolf and as part of the pack, including alpha and omega wolf dynamics, and interesting changes in her senses and attention to the world around her (once vegetarian, she discovers post-bite that she likes meat by finding herself standing in front of the fridge in the middle of the night eating a raw steak). She and the pack must also contend with a group of 'hunters,' who trace their avocation back to hunters who pursued and persecuted both werewolves and witches back in times of yore, and who now pursue werewolves with similar interest in rubbing them out.
Her brother was kind of awkward and didn't have many friends, so he welcomes the changes (he's physically more powerful and fearsome as a werewolf, at least when he changes), but she's less sure about how she feels about it. Her brother is set upon by the pack as the omega, low-wolf on the totem pole and constantly put in his place, which even though he's psyched to be a werewolf eventually comes to a head later in the story. Her ambivalence about being a werewolf develops into her interest in contacting a researcher who is studying lycanthropy and who is understood by the mainstream as being a 'crackpot,' but in that X-Files kind of way is actually aware of The Truth. The rest of the pack, including her brother, are not interested in finding a cure for something they don't think is bad, and in fact have an interest in stopping Alice and the researcher.
