This book is a monetary history of the People's Republic of China, analyzing the period between 1949 and 1988. It aims to be an institutional, historical and empirical study of the role of money in modern China. How much of it is there? Who has it? and What is the relationship between money and prices in China? It seeks to provide a comparative perspective in both theoretical and empirical terms.
