Elli is the continuing story of Jevington Fair. Elli, having grown up and married Rueben a Jewish man, can now see the horrendous time that the Jews are enduring in Germany. With the help of her uncle, and in great danger, they rescue children escaping from the horrors. Then in 1939 the country is at war with Germany and many changes follow. A school of evacuees are billeted at Friston Manor; Land Army girls are working on the farms; searchlights gleam from the Sussex Downs and many lives are lost. Eastbourne was one of the most bombed towns along the south coast of England.
