Will Autumn master the school's secret talent?
Dickensen Academy by Christine Grabowski is an excellent book that I enjoyed reading.
Autumn is a pretty cool character throughout the book. I liked how this book was different than most young adult books and the idea behind the school is incredible.
What I like:
- Autumn Mattison is a fantastic character. She’s the only main character, since it’s written in the first person, and she reminds me a bit of how I felt like in high school. Autumn wants to make her parents happy with good grades, but she still wants to have fun.
- I love Dickensen Academy. The whole concept of it and the secret that the school has. That is so smart, and it made it different than other young adult books. I would have loved to have gone to this school.
- Seeing Autumn go through her challenges as she did throughout the book is excellent. It’s nice to see her grow as a character as she overcomes these hurdles.
- And last but not least my favorite thing about the book is that all the characters, from Autumn to her friends to her love interest to her family to her teachers, they all seem realistic and that Ms. Grabowski made sure that they all seemed to stand out on their own before starting to write this story.
What I dislike:
The only thing that I didn't like about this book is the fact that Autumn’s dad was such a jerk to Autumn about everything. He is such a micro-manager, but I can’t go into too much detail about this. However, that’s what I think.
Five Stars
Dickensen Academy by Christine Grabowski is an excellent book that I am giving a five-star rating too. Everything about it made me think it’s so different and that I wonderfully entertained. I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Grabowski as this book showed me that this author has incredible talents in making a believable storyline and credible characters.
Anyways until next time enjoy this review brought to you by,
