I loved the set up of Depths. Cohen and Maren have known each other for a long time, but haven't met. She works at the warehouse of his parents' furniture store, so they talk on the phone a lot about orders and deliveries. They've also grown friendly and chat about their relationship woes. Both fantasize about the other, and then they meet and reality is much better! I also loved how the beginning is essentially a date from hell montage for Cohen, including the one where he finally meets Maren. He has horrible luck with women!
What really impressed me about Depths was that there was no ridiculous fight! Cohen does overstep his bounds a bit, Maren gets upset about that, but no one runs away and no one pushes anyone away! They work through it together! Bravo! Maren realizes that she needs help, even though she's the one helping everyone else. Cohen is that super caring helpful guy, so of course he steps in. It all just works.
Depths was just a great read. I'm loving the theme of this series, which is people finding their way and finding someone to support and anchor them. There's no healing by the power of love, or overdramatics. These characters feel real, and I believe their problems. The romance is also sexy, which I always love!
