When her Battersea home was destroyed in the Blitz, eleven-year-old Jo Well`s life was turned upside down. Her mother`s body was dug out of the rubble, but there was no sign of her brother and sister and they were presumed to have died too. But Jo refused to accept this, believing against all odds that one day she would be reunited with them once more. After the war, Jo went to work for the famous sculptor Russell Wade as his model and inspiration, and for a time she believed she had found love and happiness. But slowly her life is overshadowed by mysteries from her past, and the terrifying suspicion that an unseen stranger is following her. Yet Jo is undefeated. She continues her quest for the happiness that has been denied her for so long, determined that somehow, somewhere she will be `Happy Tomorrow`.
