One of a series on national cuisines around the world, this is a cookbook which focuses on the holidays and traditions of Thailand. They include the Loy Krathong festival, when the Thais pay homage to the Mother of Waters by floating thousands of paper boats on the rivers and lakes, and eat ginger sauce in celebration; and the end of the Buddhist Lenten season, when the King travels by royal barge to fete the monks in the temple, and the people celebrate with picnics. The author also wrote "Asia the Beautiful Cookbook", chosen by "Publisher's Weekly" as one of the best books of 1987.
