This story is about children in a world war who are sent away from homes likely to be in danger areas. Probably the first time they had been away from parents, and life that they knew. Exciting, frightening, bewildering. It was a dreadful time for the parents, sending their children to strangers, and for the foster parents who took the children into their homes. Some children could be unruly, dirty and uncouth. A time of learning for everyone; children trying to fit in with strangers who sometimes didn't want them.
