Here we see how even though Shelly has been putting on a brave face for everyone about her career choice, it is not something that she enjoys. The truth of the life comes out when she tries to apply for a job at a local bookstore, only to find out that the manager is a former client. The horror that she faces in that she will never be able to find a "normal" job. She spends time finding very young girls who are just starting out in the life and taking them to a shelter to help them.
Then her pimp comes to her "secured" apartment and makes her an offer that she can't refuse to work a party. When things go wrong at the party, Shelly escapes with another young girl who really didn't want to be there. They run to Luke, a detective that Shelly helped during Allie's story.
This is a great start to Shelly's story. I'm very intrigued to see how things work out between her and Luke. You can really see how much they want to be together, but how difficult it would be for both of them. Plus, you add in Philip with this new girl Ella. That adds a whole new level of creepy to the story. It will be interesting to see where that storyline goes. Ms. Warren knows how to keep you on your toes, that is for sure.
