Modern Capitalism is a timely sequel to John Cornwall's earlier, and well-received, account of the Golden Age of Capitalism (mid-1950s to mid-1970s). The book begins by providing a reassessment of the events during the Golden Age. The authors then evaluate the relative decline of the developed capitalist economies over the 25 years that followed and assess the likelihood of a renewal of advanced capitalism in an age of emerging 'new economies'. The book combines macroeconomic theory with history and quantitative methods in an accessible and readable manner.
