This is the story of a hungry fox who meets a plump goose and, ooh!, what an innocent looking goose she is. Just look at those big, doey eyes - so trusting! The fox can't believe his luck so he asks the goose to go for a stroll. The goose, with her angelic face, cannot refuse. Suddenly, a little chick pops up warning the protagonist: "That is NOT a good idea!" All too late! This fox is on a roll and next, he invites the goose back to his house tucked away in the deep, dark woods, and ... the goose says YES! "THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!" - now, LOTS of little chicks are shouting warnings! But ... just who are they trying to help? The fox or the goose?

This is laugh out loud funny and an awesome choice for story time. If reading it aloud to my preschooler is any indication on the masses you'll have to have some quiet time after this story for the interaction and shouting that incurs. I know I've heard the name Mo Willems here and there, but I have experienced his books thus far so this was a great introduction. It's a little over a 9x9" square and the story illustrations are presented in the manner of an old silent movie, which for the adult reader adds additional flare. I think it would also make a great example and topic starter for studying film or theatre with the little ones. Definitely a twist on the ending, which makes for all the better.
