Rock is not just a musical genre, but a way of living, of doing things, of interpreting reality. What would music be like today without the first American appearance of the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, or if Pete Townshend had not written the revolutionary My Generation? Would people still talk about rock if Jimi Hendrix hadn't set fire to the stage at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967? Rock music is more than just the legends who have shaped the genre. It is Woodstock and the Live Aid concerts and the untimely deaths of legends like Buddy Holly and John Lennon that have changed this genre. This richly illustrated book presents the great events that have changed the history of rock music and, in some cases, the history of the world. AUTHOR: Ernesto Assante began working in journalism in 1977 and throughout his thirty year career he has collaborated with numerous publications specialising in music. He is the author of books on music criticism and has looked in depth at the legends of rock history. Among his works he has written 'Legends of Rock', 'Masters of Rock Guitar', '5 Seconds of Summer' and 'The Milestones of Rock and Roll' for White Star. ILLUSTRATOR: Fabiana Attanasio was born in Rome in 1985. She began her artistic career after leaving school, first in the field of comics, before dedicating herself completely to illustration. She graduated from the International School of Comics and is currently working with publishers in Italy and abroad. For White Star Kids she has illustrated the books 'The Sweet Side of Fairy Tales' and 'Scary Recipes'.
