This volume contains an introduction, detailed catalogue, and full indices of 291 cuneiform clay tablets in the Ashmolean Museum, with hand-copies of each text. The tablets range in date from c.1900-1600 BC and the purpose of their publication is to make basic material available to cuneiform scholars. From such work it is gradually becoming possible to reassemble archives from scattered tablets in collections all over the world. Studies of reconstituted archives will be the basis for writing histories of these very early periods. This book is intended for scholars and students in Assyriology and ancient near-eastern history. Edited and translated by: Dalley, Stephanie (Shillito Fellow in Assyriology at the Oriental Institute, Oxford, and a Senior Research Fellow, Somerville College, Oxford); Unknown function: Yoffee, Norman (Professor of Anthropology)
