The book is concerned with the development of the PC and how it differs from other machines, the "standard" hardware, portables, MS-DOS 5.0 and 6.0, the hard disk (and DBLSPACE) Windows and DOSSHELL (notes on Windows-4, NT and OS-2 2.0), memory management, networking, printers and upgrading, including installation of a new motherboard. With this book the emphasis is on the computer use rather than on the programmer or constructor, so that the text will assume a fairly low level of experience and understanding of the machine.
