This is an illustrated atlas of Venice, annotated with historical detail and diverting anecdote. Four hundred and seventy buildings on the Grand Canal and elsewhere are identified and illustrated - Ca' Tron, for example, once the home of Filippo Tron, who was so fat that in 1501, he burst, or Ca' Mocenigo, from whose balcony a lady friend of Byron threw herself into the canal. Including a selection of hotels and restaurants in Venice as well as a calendar of events, the book also gives advice on what to do in an emergency.
