After a drunken, mid passage night on the town in Colon, the gateway port to the Panama Canal, yacht delivery skipper Eddie Hurst finds himself nursing the mother of all hangovers and trying to piece together the events of the previous night. His young American crew member Scott however has a more sombre awakening. Scott finds himself alone in a small filthy room, unable to move and minus two of his own body parts! When the two meet again in a private clinic Eddie is enveloped in guilt at having allowed this to happen to his young charge. Scott for his part is enveloped in life preserving machinery and wretched self-pity. Later a conversation between Eddie and one of the surgeons at the clinic links a name, overheard by Scott during his ordeal and opens an avenue of hope. A nightmare chase against time and the grime and corruption of Panama ensues to reunite Scott with his missing organs before they can be sold on to the waiting rich of Southern California.
