This study examines the industrial emergence of telecommunications technicians, flight attendants and bank employees, and analyzes trade union responses. The case studies take account of class location, the control structure, the effects of technology (including deskilling), and the impact of gender divisions. The extent of equal opportunity for women is explained, and the industrial behaviour of bank employees is compared with that of technicians and flight attendants.
