"Is Jesus a Man?" shows the Son of God, who became man, as a very real person like anyone else, but sinless. Jesus's experiences were those we are likely to encounter; from the daily issues of hunger and tiredness to dealing with sorrow, illness and all the difficulties faced by the ordinary person. Yet Jesus met these situations - historically helping those in need; and today providing solutions to those who turn to Him in faith. Hebrews 2:18 states, "In that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted". Jesus is no alien lacking an understanding of mankind but a very real person who knows the complexity of life and is able to help. To answer the question as to whether Jesus was a real person, the author examines what the Bible has to say. From the moment that Mary became pregnant, to when Jesus died on the cross, thousands observed this Person. Nowhere was His manhood denied. In fact, the reverse was true; Jesus was thought to be just a man, and not both God and man in one person.
The manhood of Jesus is covered under seven headings: Mary is pregnant; His birth; His early years; His occupation; His public life; His feelings and emotions; His death. Throughout His life, Jesus was observed by family, friends and enemies - none doubting that He was a real person. He spoke of Himself as "A Man who has told you the truth" (John 8:40). Do you believe Him? Without Jesus being a real, but sinless, person He could not have been an acceptable sacrifice to deal with sin; and so could not make salvation available to believers on Him and His finished work. Paul writes in 1 Timothy 2:5, "There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus". Only one who was truly man, yet truly God at the same time, could be an acceptable mediator between God and men. Today, the risen man Christ Jesus is the only way to God. This is why it is important to believe that Jesus was a real person in every way.
