This text covers the T-34 and KV-1 tanks and their derivitives. The book also covers the family of tanks specially developed in Russia, during the 1941-1945 conflict. The T-34 for engineered for mass production, it was armed and well armoured, it was fast and it was able to cross terrain or surmount obstacles the German Panzers could not. The KV-1 was a heavy tank which seemed impervious to infantry anti-tank weapons. This book follows the evolution of Russian tank tactics after the Red Army's early setbacks, culminationg in the tank battles around Kursk in 1943 and the overwhelming assault on Berlin in 1945. There is also a section which covers the Soviet tank formations, crews' uniforms and equipment.
