Examining attempts by Christian leaders to undermine biblical statements about the exclusiveness of Christianity as the only way of salvation, Tony Higton seeks to show how the work and witness of the Church is being sabotaged from within. The emphasis is on the local church; the author urges a return to the biblical standards of obedience, holiness, power, praise, intercession and "hearing God". He calls for a deep commitment to one another, to every-member ministry and to mission. Finally, he affirms God's sovereignty over the future of what he sees as God's strategy in the present, leading to the return of Christ. Rev Tony Higton received national fame due to his motion in Synod, November 1987, against homosexual clergy. He is joint founder of "Action for Biblical Witness to our Nation", which seeks to uphold biblical principles and morality in the Church of England.
