Very few Christians hear God's voice guiding them, and his voice is a "silent voice" speaking to them through other people and things, according to the author, who also examines the five basic methods God uses to communicate with his people today: reading the Scriptures, prayer, worship, observing nature, and discerning circumstances. The book has practical examples from the Bible and modern life - including the author's own experience of guidance - and also contains chapters on the place of words of knowledge and prophecy, and on "the mystery of guidance", when God appears not to guide. The author's previous works include "Growing Up to Salvation".
