An ardent love story which takes place in the first half of the Nineteenth Century in the Newport and Usk districts of South Wales. More drama occurs in India. James Roberts believed that as he was the elder son, he would eventually inherit his father's mill on the bank of the river Usk, near the town of Usk. When he reached the age of fifteen in 1814, his father, a selfish and domineering man, convinced himself that James had to change his character by becoming assertive and ruthless before he could be trusted to run the mill proficiently and profitably. About that time James fell in love with Megan Parry without knowing the extent of the hatred his father had for her family. When his father discovered their relationship he would resolve both situations by buying a Commission in the Army for James stretching over a long period of time. James Sailed to India with the other newly Commissioned Officers in 1816. They had to face active service destroying armed bands of Indian rebels. Would he ever return to his sweetheart and claim his inheritance in Wales?
