Retired teacher Martin Brady's interest in footpaths leads him to investigate a run-down Fenland farm - which turns out to contain illegal immigrants and to be linked to a national neo-Nazi Organisation. His amateur sleuthing (whilst his wife is away on a course) leads to his being shot at, but not before undertaking a hair-raising river trip, causing a spectacular plane crash and discovering a Bunker which contains a photo of a rather special Uboat...
