Following the defeat of demon armies in Ente Isla, the Devil King, Sadao Maou, and his general, Shiro Ashiya, travel to modern-day Tokyo. Maou works at a fast-food restaurant and lives with Ashiya in an apartment as they try to find a way back home because of their limited magic.
Having read this manga, I found it very interesting. The plot of the demon lord coming into the real world is very comical. The situation can, however, get very serious when it needs to. A certain amount of magic was present in the real world. I liked the way it presented this, and it wasn’t confusing. I appreciated the explanation of magic in the real world. The cast of characters was great and relatable.
Although the demon lord was evil in his world, he was a sympathetic character. It’s not just the magical characters that are interesting; the humans are as well.
The art style isn’t unique, it was still well done. My one complaint was that the plot came out of nowhere. Despite the lack of a real setup, the plot worked out in the end. Manga fans who like comedic, but serious mangas will like this. My overall opinion of this book is that it is worth reading.
